UA Society of Art History

We are a small group of emerging art historians with a wide range of skills and experience. We love what we do, and we do it with passion.

The Society of Art History Students, or The Guild, is a new campus organization where students can gather to discuss topics of Art History. To join, one does not have to be an Art History major or minor but should have a keen interest in the discipline.
Activities during meetings include discussions of art, faculty spotlights, and items of interest, such as using an Oculus program to view Gothic Cathedrals, or watching films or documentaries related to Art History.
An interest in a specific period, style, or artist is not required. This organization is intended to have an amalgamation of interests coming from each member. With this, fruitful and robust discussions can be held, where students learn from each other.
Resources for undergraduates will be provided, such as opportunities for paper submissions and useful sources regarding graduate school applications. Additionally, if students are interested in help from their peers regarding their Art History classes, this organization can facilitate such needs.

Allex Briggs

Vice-President

Allex Briggs is a senior Studio Art and Italian (FLLC) double major whose favorite pastimes are laughing and wearing dresses almost exclusively. If you catch her on a jean day, consider yourself very fortunate. This is a very rare occurrence. Her other hobbies include but are not limited to drying flowers, convincing people to get tattoos, ballroom dancing, and playing trivia. Also, if you feel like wasting time, ask her why orange and blue is the best color combination despite the controversial reference to Auburn (Roll Tide!)

Aubrey Dettman

Treasurer

Aubrey is a junior Art History and Mechanical Engineering double major from Orlando, Florida. In her free time, Aubrey enjoys hiking, white-water kayaking, archery, and pretty much anything in the outdoors! On the engineering side, she participates in undergraduate research and is a member of the Astrobotics student design team. Fun fact about Aubrey: she hates all Rembrandt paintings for no discernable reason!
